Field firefighters battle flames as part of an annual training
exercise at the Klamath Falls Airport. The exercise included a
new $1.1 million Mobile Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (MARFF)
trainer, which looks like an airplane without wings. The trainer
can simulate interior fires, engine fires and fuel spill fires.

Field firefighters wait to fight a fire during a training
exercise. The MARFF trainer used in the exercise was bought by
the Eugene Airport with federal aid money in August, and is used
to train firefighters around the state. The trainer's trip to
Klamath Falls was the first time it has traveled outside of
Eugene.
