Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 - New Mail Account Configurations


PLEASE NOTE: You must have previous experience configuring software 
programs, in order to utilize these instructions. You will be responsible for 
any changes or additions made on your computer system

If your operating system has a Setup Wizard, please take the information from 
the instruction sheets and apply them into the appropriate windows.
Since there are 
several versions of Thunderbird, some set-up windows could vary in which case the 
review of instruction sheets and personal judgment are needed.

Before completing these instructions, make sure your computer is operating 
correctly and modem is configured to dial out.
If the computer system is not working 
properly, or configuration of modem is not set-up, you will need to contact 
a computer repair shop or technician to fix the problem.


1.) Open Thunderbird Mail.

2.) If a Set-up Wizard does not appear, go to the top of the Thunderbird Mail window, click on the File menu and select New Account.

3.) The first screen to appear is the New Account Setup.  In this screen, select Email account then click Next (sample screen below).

 

4.) In the next screen Identity, complete the following (sample screen below):

Your Name field - enter your Real Name
E-mail Address - enter your e-mail address (all lowercase characters with no spaces).

After completing these steps, click Next.

 

5.) In the next screen Server Information, complete the following (sample screen below):

Select the type of incoming server you are using - select POP
Incoming Address - enter mail.cvc.net (all lowercase characters with no spaces).
Use Global Inbox - select this option.
Outgoing Server - enter mail.cvc.net (all lowercase characters with no spaces).

After completing these steps, click Next.

 

6.) In the User Names screen, Incoming User Name field, enter your e-mail username (do not enter the e-mail address).
After entering your username, click Next (sample screen below).

 

7.) In the Account Name screen, enter your e-mail address (all lowercase characters with no spaces).
After entering your e-mail address, click Next (sample screen below).

 

8.) In the last set-up screen Congratulations!, click the Finish button. 

To verify that Thunderbird is properly set for CVC Internet e-mail, please complete the following steps.

9.) At the top of the Thunderbird Mail window, click on the Tools menu and select Account Settings.

10.) In the Account Settings window, Category screen (left-hand side of the Account Settings window), double-click on your username to open a drop-down menu with more setting options.

11.) The first screen to appear is the Account Settings.  In this screen, check the following settings (sample screen shown below):

 

12.) Go to the Category menu (left-hand side of the window), and click on Server Settings.  In the Server Settings screen, check the following settings (sample screen below):

13.) Back to the Category menu, click on Disk Space.  In the Disk Space screen, make sure this option is not selected (sample screen shown below).

 

14.) In the Category menu, click on the Security setting.  In the Security screen, make sure none of these settings are selected (sample screen below).

 

15.) In the Category menu, double-click on the Local Folders to open a drop-down menu with more setting options.  Under the Local Folders, click on the Disk Space.  In the Disk Space screen, make sure Don't delete any messages is selected (sample screen below).

 

16.) In the Category menu, under Local Folder, click on Outgoing Server (SMTP).  In the Outgoing Server Settings screen, check the following settings (sample screen below):

 

17.) If the Outgoing Mail Server Settings check fine, go to Step 18.  If the Outgoing Server Settings are incorrect, click on the Edit button in this screen and make the necessary changes, then click OK at the bottom of the STMP Server screen (sample screen below).

 

18.) At the bottom of the Account Settings window, click the OK button.

19.) To make sure Thunderbird Mail is functioning properly with your CVC Internet settings, please complete an e-mail test to yourself.  To complete a mail test, click on the Write button (in the Thunderbird Mail window) to open a new message window, then address the e-mail with your e-mail address, and type Mail Test in the Subject field.  After you have addressed the message, click the Send button.  Shortly after clicking the Send button, click on the Get Mail button.  If your mail test was received successfully, your Thunderbird Mail program is properly set.  If the mail test did not send or receive successfully, please contact CVC Internet at (541) 884-5488.
